Thank you for your interest in joining TVAC.
The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps is
Teaneck’s only emergency ambulance service. All of our
members are volunteers, and serve the township without pay.
TVAC responds to over 3,000 emergency calls per year and
routinely saves lives and reduces suffering with our rapid
response and application of Basic Life Support skills. When
you join us, you will become a part of a well organized,
well prepared team that will count on you as a valued
member.
To become a member, you must be:
All members must be available to commit to a
minimum of four hours per week on duty, ready to
respond in uniform from our headquarters. Additionally, we
require each member to complete a bi-annual ten-hour
Sunday shift. No previous training is necessary to
join, however, you will be required to become a state
certified Emergency Medical Technician within nine months of
joining. We will help you to obtain training and assist you
in utilizing state funding to cover the cost of your
training. You will be given plenty of supervision and
assistance to ensure that you become a competent and
confident EMT.
Men and women of all races, religions, ethnic
groups and sexual orientations are invited to join. Out of
town residents are welcome, provided that they are available
to serve their four hours between 7am and 7pm, or are able
to sleep at headquarters one night a week between 11pm and
7am.
